Next coastal razor clam digs approved to begin this Friday

10razor2013 The next series of coastal razor clam digs were approved to begin this coming Friday, Nov. 15, and come on the heels of another decent dig.

“The weather played an issue part of the week (during the last digs on Nov. 2-8),” said Dan Ayres, the head state Fish and Wildlife coastal shellfish manager. “The forecast looks a little wet but no big blows.”

The next digs are scheduled Friday and Saturday, Nov. 15-16 at Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Copalis and Mocrocks; Sunday, Nov. 17 at Long Beach, Twin Harbors and Mocrocks; and Nov. 18-20 at Twin Harbors. Digging is open from noon to midnight each day.

At Long Beach diggers averaged 12.7 (the first 15 clams dug regardless of size or condition are the daily limit); Twin Harbors it was 12.6; Mocrocks it was 14.7; and Copalis it was 8.3.

Here are the additional dates going into the winter holiday period:
