Flowing Lake planted with thousands of trout to offer holiday fishing

photo (20)

Instead of heading to the mall why not trek to Flowing Lake near Monroe for what should be some decent trout action.

State Fish and Wildlife planted 5,000 rainbow trout averaging 10-12 inches this past week t offer some pre- and post-Christmas fishing opportunities.

The year-round lake has good bank and boat access in an area known as Three Lakes located north of Monroe. The daily limit is five trout.

The state Fish and Wildlife access is located on the south end of the lake, and parking is limited for vehicles and boat trailers. All anglers must have a visible state Fish and Wildlife Vehicle Access Pass or Discover Pass in their vehicles.

The lake also has an access on the north shore at Flowing Lake County Park, and has a $7 day-use fee.
