Nooksack River reopens Friday for steelhead fishing

The Nooksack River will reopen for fishing Friday, Jan. 24 after state Fish and Wildlife determined that the hatchery has met their spawning escapement goal.

This includes the Nooksack from the mouth to the confluence of the North and South Forks, and the South Fork from the mouth to Skookum Creek, the Middle Fork from mouth to the City of Bellingham diversion dam and the North Fork from the mouth to Nooksack Falls.

The river had closed on Jan. 17 so the Kendall Creek Hatchery could meet fish broodstock goals.
