North Fork of Stillaguamish River reopens Friday for steelhead fishing

The North Fork Stillaguamish River and Fortson Hole are both reopening Friday, Jan. 24 after state Fish and Wildlife indicated that hatcheries have met their steelhead spawning escapement goals at the Whitehorse Hatchery Facility.

This includes the North Fork Stillaguamish River from the Swede Heaven Bridge downstream approximately four river miles to the French Creek confluence and Fortson Hole.

The Cascade River, a tributary of the Skagit River, remains closed from the Rockport-Cascade Road downstream to the mouth until the Marblemount Hatchery reaches their steelhead spawning escapement goal. The Cascade River will reopen Feb. 1-15 under the rules described in the state sport fishing pamphlet.
