Clam digging opens next month at Dosewallips State Park

Clam diggers can get a jump start at a shellfish gathering popular beach in Hood Canal.

Dosewallips State Park located in Jefferson County will open March 1 until further notice for clam digging.

State Fish and Wildlife says the clam population can have a recreational clam season similar to last year. The earlier opening provides more continuous clamming in this Hood Canal area, since nearby Point Whitney Tidelands is closed.

The oyster gathering season at Dosewallips is open year-round.
