Lower Columbia spring chinook action is off and on

3 CrowdHere is the latest Lower Columbia River spring Chinook figures provided by state Fish and Wildlife:

Last week on the Lower Columbia, anglers made 9,500 trips and caught 833 adult Chinook (677 kept and 156 released) and 66 steelhead (35 kept and 31 released).  Upriver spring Chinook comprised 71% of the kept catch.

From March 1-30, an estimated 23,200 angler trips have produced 800 Chinook kept and 200 released.  Just over 500 of the fish kept were upriver stock based on Visual Stock Identification (VSI).

Prior to the run update, allocation of upriver fish (including release mortalities) for non-Indian fisheries will be 10,157 fish for the recreational fishery below Bonneville Dam.

Columbia River Joint State hearing
