State Fish and Wildlife Lower Columbia River spring chinook catch estimates

BoatsHere are the latest catch estimates in the Lower Columbia spring chinook sport fishery:

During April 1-6, anglers on the lower Columbia made 18,800 trips and caught 2,390 adult Chinook (1,972 kept and 648 released) and 100 steelhead (74 kept and 26 released).  Based on Visual Stock Identification (VSI) sampling, upriver spring Chinook comprised 80% of the kept catch.

From March 1-April 6, an estimated 42,300 angler trips have produced 2,800 Chinook kept and 650 released.  Just over 2,150 of the fish kept were upriver stock based on VSI.

Prior to the run update, allocation of upriver fish (including release mortalities) for non-Indian fisheries will be 10,157 fish for the recreational fishery below Bonneville Dam.
