A Women’s Fly Fishing School that benefits the Washington State Casting for Recovery Program will be held May 16-18 in Cle Elum.
This event provides women a chance to fly-fish or learn the sport, getting instruction from top women fly fishers in Washington and Oregon, build on fly-fishing skills to take it the next level, and learn new techniques plus review and solidify the basics.
Participants will also improve their fly-fishing and fly‐casting skills, improve casting distance, accuracy, and presentation, learn advanced and faster knots, line management, reading the water skills and get stream-side entomology for trout.
Women’s Fly Fishing School Instructors are Judy Graham, a FFF Certified Casting Instructor; Mary Ann Dozer, a fly-fishing guide in Oregon and Idaho, and a Master Level FFF Certified Caster; and Lisa Wassgren Elser, a volunteer for Casting for Recovery for the last nine years.
The event is $375, and includes golf course fairways for casting, and a privately stocked pond and the Yakima River. Group meals and shared lodging are provided in private cabins on site.
This is a major fundraising event for Washington State’s Casting for Recovery program retreat for breast cancer survivors in Washington at no cost to the participants. To learn more, go to www.CastingForRecovery.org.
