Port Angeles Halibut Derby is May 24-25

The Port Angeles Salmon Club’s Halibut Derby is Memorial Day weekend on May 24-25.

Fishing is allowed from daylight until 2 p.m. each days with $20,000 in cash prizes awarded. Cost is $40 for both days, and the derby headquarters is the Port Angeles Yacht Club.

Tickets are not available online, but may be purchased in Port Angeles at Swain’s General Store or Jerry’s Bait and Tackle, and Brian’s Sporting Goods in Sequim.   Tickets will be available May 23 at the Port Angeles Yacht Club.

Last year, a 96-pound halibut took first place by Robert Beauvias of Joyce who took home the $5,000 grand prize for the largest halibut. For details, call 360-457-1450 Monday to Friday only.
