Here is the latest fishing report from Dave Graybill, longtime Eastern Washington outdoor radio host and angler:
While at Leavenworth’s Earth Day celebration, I was approached by Clint Strand of KOHO Radio.
He has a young daughter that wants to go fishing, and he was asking how he should go about getting started. Well, I had the answer.
There is a great event coming up on Saturday, June 7th that is taylor made for fathers and daughters like Strand. It is the annual Kids Fish-In Day at the National Fish Hatchery in Leavenworth.
The event invites families with kids age 4 to 12 to come to the hatchery, learn a few things and then get to actually catch two fish.
Thanks to some local fishing and hunting organizations and sponsors, the raceway at the hatchery will be filled with fish and the rods, reels and bait are all provided—for free!
The fish are even cleaned and iced for the trip home. To register for the event, just to friends of NW Hatcheries dot org, and pick the time you want to fish. It’s just that easy. Plan on a morning of fun, and see the joy of your child catch their first fish. I will be there to help out, too and I hope to see you there.
