Coonstripe and pink shrimp fisheries open Sunday in parts of Puget Sound

The sport non-spot shrimp fishery opens this Sunday (June 1) for coonstripe and pink shrimp along the east side of Whidbey Island, San Juan Island East, northern and south-central Puget Sound (Marine Catch Areas 8-1, 8-2, 9 and 11).

Areas 8-1, 8-2, 9 and 11 have a 150-foot maximum fishing depth restriction, and Area 7 East has a 200-foot maximum fishing depth restriction. All spot shrimp caught must be returned to the water immediately.

Elsewhere the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and San Juan Island West (Areas 4, 5, 6 and 7 West) are still open daily for all shrimp species.
