Updated state Fish and Wildlife Lower Columbia River chinook catch

During June 1-8, anglers on the Lower Columbia made 14,400 trips and caught 2,222 spring chinook (987 kept and 1,235 released), 835 summer steelhead (653 kept and 182 released), and 34 sockeye (released).

Based on Visual Stock Identification (VSI) sampling, upriver spring Chinook comprised 62% of the kept catch: however, the presence of summer Chinook is likely skewing the VSI results.

Through June 8, an estimated 126,439 angler trips have produced 14,382 Chinook kept and 5,643 released, In addition, 1,933 steelhead have been kept and 511 released.
