Discounted life jacket sale offered Saturday by Seattle Parks Department

Keep every safe on the water this summer by ensuring they’re wearing a life jacket.

Seattle Parks and Recreation is making that possible by offering a low-cost life jacket sales 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday (July 19) at Evans Pool, 7201 East Green Lake Drive North in Seattle.

Drowning is one of the leading causes of unintentional death among young children. State law requires all children under age 12 must wear a Coast Guard-approved life jacket or life vest on watercraft less than 19 feet. All boats must have a life jacket on board for each person over age 12.

Cost is $20 for infant to youth large, and $30 for teens to adult XXXL. The parks will also hold another sale 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16.

This event is done by the Parks Department along with Seattle Children’s Hospital, Mustang Survival and the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Details email diane.jones@seattle.gov.
