Big turnout for Brewster King Salmon Derby with good catches in the pool

Here is the latest fishing report from Dave Graybill, longtime Eastern Washington outdoor radio host and angler:

The Budweiser-Lowrance King Salmon Derby in Brewster was a huge success again this year. Anglers ignored all the negative media about the fires and derby organizers had 273 entries out of a possible 275 for the event.

Fishing was good on the Brewster Pool and angler success was very good.

The first place winner was Corey Maynard with a king weighing 21.85 pounds. Second place went to Forrest Tennant for a 21.49-pound fish, and third place was awarded to Rob Snyder for a king of 20.65 pounds.

In the age 14 and under youth division Wiley Flohr won it with a king that weighed a whopping 24.97 pounds. Stealing the show on the podium, little Katlynn Gibbons, daughter of guide Jerrod Gibbons won the under age eight division.

There was a whole new crew working on this year’s event and Lori Kratzer and others from the Brewster community did a great job. Peter Flohr, who organizes the Wenatchee Salmon Derby, also was a big contributor to the work done.

The Brewster salmon derby is one of the best run and success derbies in the state.
