Coho fishery in a section of North Puget Sound reopens Saturday

The coho salmon fishery south of Foulweather Bluff in northern Puget Sound (Marine Catch Area 9) opens Saturday, Aug. 16, which is two weeks earlier than expected.

The daily limit is two salmon – chinook must be released – south of a boundary line from Foulweather Bluff to Olele Point, and has been closed this summer to protect poor returns of mid-Hood Canal chinook.

Anglers fishing north of Foulweather Bluff in northern Puget Sound can keep one hatchery-marked king in their two-salmon daily limit through Friday, Aug. 15.
