The Tulalip Cabela’s, 9810 Quil Ceda Blvd., is hosting a wide range of activities this weekend including a BBQ benefit to raise funds for Oso Remembrance Benches.
On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. kids age 4 to 15 can wet a ling for free at the Trout Pond, hosted by Everett Salmon and Steelhead Club.
The Benefit BBQ for Oso Remembrance Benches is this weekend, and proceeds will go toward purchasing two engraved, granite benches to serve as a place of reflection to remember the tragedy at Oso, and to honor the first responders and volunteers who selflessly gave their time and resources to aid in the recovery. The benches will be installed in Haller Park in Arlington, followed by a community dedication ceremony. A total of $5,000 needs to be raised to complete the community project.
The Fall Great Outdoor Days is this weekend where participants can shot in the Daisy BB Gun Range, try gold panning, Cast a Fly at our Walk in Fly Casting Clinic, check out the bear education trailer, and meet and greet with local conservation groups.
Free seminars on Saturday are: On the Fly: Fly Fishing Techniques for All at 11 a.m. with Certified Master Casting Instructor, Don Simonson; Fall Salmon Focus at 1 p.m. with Captain Nick Kester of All-Star Charters; Archery Elk Hunts at 2 p.m. where you can learn how to tune up your bow, learn about calls, spot and stalk techniques and get expert tips on chasing big elk during archery season; Game Retrieval, Packing and Processing at 3 p.m. with butcher Jon Blank.
Free seminars on Sunday are: Ladies & Handguns: An Intro to Handgun Safety at 11 a.m., a free introductory course taught by a certified instructor from Olympia Tactical; Early Season Mule Deer Hunts at noon where hunters can learn how to effectively hunt early season mule deer in the Pacific Northwest; Pacific Northwest Salmon Fishing at 1 p.m. with Captain Jim and Jennifer Stahl of NW Fishing Guides; DIY Summer Sausage at 2 p.m. where you can learn how to process your own sausage with butcher Jon Blank.
