Anglers looking for tips on saltwater fishing opportunities should check out the newly expanded state Fish and Wildlife website.

The new page offers anglers tips and tactics on how to catch fish for about 3,800 square miles of marine areas off the coast, Grays Harbor, Willapa Bay, Strait of Juan de Fuca, San Juan Islands, Hood Canal, and Puget Sound.

According to a state fisheries news release the new features include:

Species calendars showing when to fish by area and species, including salmon, halibut, lingcod, rockfish, flounder, tuna and other marine species.

Mapping tools that enable anglers to plan their trips and gain information on shore and boat access.

Fishing tips that include YouTube instructional videos, Fishing 101 lessons, fish preparation tips, and information on public clam and oyster beaches. These include tip on trolling for chinook in Puget Sound by going to http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/washington/videos/ or fishing for coho in Puget Sound at http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/washington/videos/.

The Great Getaways vacation planning section, which provides extensive information about family-friendly fishing vacations.

Fishing reports that give anglers information on where the bite is on.
