Outdoor writer Dave Graybill looks at chasing fall trout in eastside lake

Here is the latest fishing report from Dave Graybill, longtime Eastern Washington outdoor radio host and angler:

While many anglers are out chasing fall salmon and coho there are many that visiting the lakes in the region that are open to trout fishing.

Fall is an excellent time to fish for trout in the region, and there are two that are my favorites this time of year.

One is Fish Lake, near Lake Wenatchee. This is a very popular trout lake through the spring and summer and in the fall the fish that have avoided anglers through the season are eager for a meal before the lake freezes. I particularly enjoy fly fishing on the lake this time of year.

In addition to fall rainbow the big brown trout go on the prowl prior to spawning. Anglers can also expect to do battle with large triploids. Fall colors at Fish Lake are spectacular, too.

Another favorite of mine is Jameson Lake in Douglas County.

This one is visited by hordes of angler on the opening weekend of the season and it has a special month-long late season in October. I got word that 10,000 catchable rainbow were added to the lake to spice the action for this late season.
