Here is the latest fishing report from Dave Graybill, longtime Eastern Washington outdoor radio host and angler:

My fishing buddy Rollie Schmitten and I floated the Methow River with guide Jeff Brazda for steelhead last Friday.

Our friend Jim Passage had booked the trip, but a family event prevented him from going so he asked if we would like to have his date, already paid for. It took us about two seconds to jump on this offer. We couldn’t have had a better day to float the Methow.

The fall colors were out, the river was in great shape and the fish were biting. We were using our fly rods and Brazda has us rigged with stone flies and bead droppers and boy did they work. We got limits of marked steelhead, and were bright and beautiful.

The fish ranged in sized from 7 to 9 pounds and they really gave us a tussle. I have to say that although we could see evidence of the fires earlier this summer, there is plenty of foliage along the stream and except for some sludge in some areas along the shore the river is terrific.

This would be a great time for fish for steelhead and even coho on the Methow. You won’t be disappointed.
