Grand opening for new Bass Pro Shops in Tacoma is Wednesday

The new Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World Store at 7905 South Hosmer Street in Tacoma opens its doors on Wednesday (Oct. 22).

There will be an opening ceremony that begins at 6 p.m. followed by a ribbon cutting at 6:30 p.m.

The store will be themed after the Pacific Northwest with a large log and rock work, indoor aquarium stocked with local fish, trophy wildlife mounts, a fireplace, and photos and hand-painted art work.

The rustic look of the 142,000-square-foot store will provide shoppers with a huge selection of outdoor gear for anglers, hunters, other outdoor related items and Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl and Grill.

The entrance to the store is an archway of fighting elk with murals all across the walls showing popular Washington landmarks.

All the fishing gear is driven toward local fisheries in the Pacific Northwest, and the White River Fly Shop features the latest fly gear as well as antique and collectible fly fishing items.

In the hunting department, the gun cabinets are filled with displays of black-tailed deer and turkey on the left side, and wolves chasing mule deer to the right and up onto the archery ledge.

The fishing and marine departments has murals and displays of local waterfalls and landscapes.

The 12,000-gallon freshwater aquarium filled with 75 to 100 local fish species has a waterfall with mountain lion, big horn sheep and mountain goats with a mural of Mount Rainier in the background.

Shoppers will also find a large selection of artwork, furniture, gifts and everything a cooking fanatic could want. Name brand clothing companies include Columbia, North Face, Bob Timberlake and RedHead.
