Beaver Lake near Issaquah to be planted next week with 2,400 trout averaging three pounds apiece

bxfishinglo02The trout plant at Beaver Lake near Issaquah has become a popular annual fall affair, and starting this coming week anglers will get a chance to catch 2,400 rainbow trout averaging about three pounds apiece.

State Fish and Wildlife will release the trout this Wednesday, and the lake’s access site will be closed at sunset on Tuesday, and then reopen at sunrise on Thursday.

While the access site is closed, fishing will still remain open at the lake, and there is a small park open for bank angling. The daily limit is five fish, and only two can exceed 15 inches in length.

There are plenty of other trout fishing options around Western Washington where 340,000 trout are being planted in 47 local lakes.

In addition, 19 west-side lakes had catch limits increased from five to 10 trout daily through Feb. 13.

The 10-trout daily-limit lakes are Angle, Bitter, Deep, Fenwick, Fish, Fivemile, Green, Holm, Langlois, Rattlesnake, Shadow and Walker in King County; Cranberry in Island County; North and South Gissburg and Tye in Snohomish; and St. Clair in Thurston.

In Vance Creek Ponds 1 and 2 in Grays Harbor, the bonus 10-trout daily limit is in effect through Nov. 30.
