The Puget Sound Anglers Sno-King Members & Guests Derby was held on Saturday under perfect weather conditions and good action for hatchery chinook.

“The fish were snapping with a great morning high tide (and) 53 anglers slapped 19 hatchery fish on the scale at Edmonds,” said Jim Fahey, a club spokesman. “The winners came from Areas 8.2 and 9, with fish reported all over Area 9.”

The winning hatchery chinook weighed 10.780 pounds and was caught by Kenneth Johnson edging out second place winner Tim Stumpf with a 10.030 pound fish.

“For sure there were a few more hooked, and lots of smiles all around – especially for our Mystery fish winner at just seven years old,” Fahey said. “Congrats to Ashley and Dad! We had three great kiddos at the weigh-in and each took home a $20 credit for Ted’s Sporting Goods, thanks to a generous club member.”
