Burke Lake Tagged Trout Derby is March 7

The Quincy Valley Tourism Association is hosting the Burke Lake Tagged Trout Derby on March 7.

The lake located near Quincy will have two trout planted with a special tag worth $2,000 and $1,000.

Other tag fish will also be planted in the lake worth $100, and cash and prizes for the heaviest fish and the highest cumulative weight of trout caught.

If someone catches the tagged fish worth $2,000 after the derby and before June 1 it will still be worth $500. More prizes will be handed out for adult and youth divisions.

Burke Lake is part of the Eastern Washington March 1 opener, and state Fish and Wildlife will also be planting trout as well as the QVTA adding 150 to 180 rainbows, 14 to 18 inches, plus some in the 5- to 7-pound range.

Cost is $25 for adults and $10 for kids under age 15. Get tickets at Hooked on Toys in Wenatchee, Sportsman’s Warehouse in East Wenatchee, Quincy Hardware and Lumber and the Quincy Chamber Office. Details: www.quincyvalleytourism.com.
