Seahawks place CB Walter Thurmond on injured reserve

The Seahawks placed cornerback Walter Thurmond on injured reserve Monday, clearing a roster spot that will most likely be filled by cornerback Brandon Browner, who returns from a four-game suspension for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

Thurmond missed the first half of this season recovering from a broken leg — an injured he suffered twice in the span of seven months. He missed the past three games because of a hamstring injury, and on Friday, coach Pete Carroll indicated it was unlikely Thurmond would be back in time for the first week of the playoffs.

Update, 3:30 p.m.: Browner was added to the 53-man roster, taking the spot of Thurmond, who reinjured his hamstring last week during his attempt to come back.
