Seahawks hire new VP of football administration aka ‘the cap guy’
Matt Thomas has been hired as the Seahawks vice president of football administration, the team announced Friday.
He fills the role that had been held by John Idzik since 2007. Idzik left to become the general manager of the New York Jets last week.
Thomas spent the past three years in Cleveland where he worked under general manager Tom Heckert. Prior to that, Thomas worked in Miami for 12 seasons.
Thomas will work in football administration, which includes issues like contract structure and negotiation.
