Confirmed: Seahawks agree to terms with Cliff Avril
Defensive end Cliff Avril is en route to Seattle.
He confirmed Wednesday afternoon he agreed to terms with the Seahawks, declining to comment further.
The news was first reported by Albert Breer of the NFL Network, and ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that it was a two-year agreement.
This is huge news as Avril and Paul Kruger of Baltimore were considered the top two free-agent defensive ends available. Kruger agreed to terms with Cleveland Browns on a five-year, $40 million.
That’s a good pick up for us!!!!

Avril had 11 sacks in 2011 and was designated the Lions’ franchise player, making about $10 million last season. He entered the free-agent market seeking a top-shelf contract.
Avril is 26, turning 27 in April. He was a third-round draft pick out of Purdue in 2008, chosen No. 92 overall. He has 29 sacks over the past three seasons.
