Leon Washington made the Pro Bowl as a Seahawk last season, but was released by the team after it acquired Percy Harvin this week. He wasn’t out of work for long, visiting the Patriots on Thursday and indicating he would be going to New England, posting a photo of himself in a Patriots hat via his Twitter account.
Washington played three seasons with the Seahawks, who acquired him in a draft-day trade with the New York Jets in 2010. Washington returned four kickoffs for touchdowns in his time with Seattle and averaged a career-high 29 yards per kickoff return in 2012. He is turning 31 this year, and the addition of Harvin is an upgrade at returner. Expect Golden Tate to get a chance as a punt returner now that Washington has moved on.
