The Seahawks’ new quarterback is actually their old quarterback, too.
Josh Portis has signed a two-year deal, the team announced. He made the team in 2011, an undrafted rookie out of California University (Penn.), the third school he had attended. Portis spent that year on the team’s 53-man roster, but didn’t make the roster coming out of training camp last year. He started the year on the practice squad and was released at the end of November.
Portis was signed in Seattle’s search for a backup quarterback to starter Russell Wilson after Matt Flynn was traded to Oakland. Expect Seattle to look to add more than just Portis to its quarterback depth chart.
