Report: 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree tears Achilles

Multiple outlets are reporting that 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree tore his Achilles tendon on Tuesday, which would mean he is likely out for the season.

The injury, which the 49ers haven’t confirmed yet and for which no timetable for a return is set, is a huge blow to San Fransisco. Crabtree caught 85 passes for 1,105 yards last season and was expected to once again be a major part of the 49ers attack in the second year of quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

It comes less than a week after the Seahawks announced that defensive end Bruce Irvin will miss the first four games of the season for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.
