Morning kickoff — Carroll says eliminating PED use requires “24-7 commitment,” and more

The Seahawks finished up the OTA portion of the season with some final meetings Thursday.

Afterward, coach Pete Carroll reiterated to USA Today the seriousness with which the team is taking the issues it has had with performance enhancing drugs (PEDs), saying:

“We have extraordinary commitment to what we do on the football field, with our training and our preparation and all of that. Our commitment has been called on to expand to 24-7, that’s what it amounts to. Everyone is involved in this.”

Nothing new there, really, from what Carroll said to the assembled local media a few weeks ago. But the fact the organization doesn’t seem reluctant or defensive in talking about it to whoever asks appears to show its willingness to, well, tackle the issue head-on and solve it.
