Report — Tebow to sign with Patriots

Reports are emerging this afternoon that Tim Tebow is signing with the New England Patriots.

First reaction — the Patriots now may have the two most-talked-about quarterbacks in the NFL on one history.

Second reaction — this now stops the speculation about going after Tebow among fan bases of any team that might still have a need for a quarterback, including the Seahawks.

Of course, there was never any reason to think that the Seahawks were interested in Tebow. Seattle general manager John Schneider made that as clear as possible in April when he said a simple “uh, no” when asked if the Seahawks might look into signing Tebow.

Seattle also appears happy with Brady Quinn as the backup to Russell Wilson.

Still, the Seahawks have had just three quarterbacks since waiving Josh Portis in mid-May — Wilson, Quinn and first-year player Jerrod Johnson. While teams often have four or more to get through training camp, it’s more than possible the Seahawks go with just those three.

If they do add another QB, however, it won’t be Tebow.
