Countdown to Training Camp: 15 Questions in 15 Days — What’s the better class?

I’m stealing a little bit of lingo from recruiting, but the question is this: Which is the best class of players, the third-year guys or the fourth-year guys?

First, the lineups:

  • In the three-year corner…WR Doug Baldwin, CB Brandon Browner, OL James Carpenter, S Jeron Johnson, OL John Moffitt, CB Richard Sherman, LB Malcolm Smith, LB K.J. Wright
  • And in the four-year corner…S Kam Chancellor, S Chris Maragos, LS Clint Gresham, OL Russell Okung, WR Golden Tate, S Earl Thomas, CB Walter Thurmond,

Lots of quality starters mixed in both groups. Brandon Browner played in a Pro Bowl for the 2012 group, and Richard Sherman probably should have. Kam Chancellor, Russell Okung and Earl Thomas have all played in Pro Bowls for the four-year group, with Thomas playing in multiple games.

What you can see from looking at both those lists is that the core of the Seahawks’ roster came in that two-year span, or at least a very significant portion of it. Heck, the entire starting secondary was pieced together during those two years, which were Pete Carroll and John Schneider’s first two years on the job. You’ve got two starters along the offensive line in there, and two receivers who have both played well since being drafted.

So, who do you have? Year Threes or Year Fours?
