The Seahawks have officially announced what had been reported earlier, that they have claimed LB O’Brien Schofield.
Here’s the release from the team:
“The Seattle Seahawks have released tackle Jake Bscherer and claimed linebacker O’Brien Schofield off waivers (Arizona), the team announced this afternoon.
Schofield was Arizona’s fourth-round selection (130th overall) in the 2010 NFL Draft and played in 35 games with nine starts in his three seasons with the Cardinals. He started all nine games played last season at outside linebacker, collecting 36 tackles (28 solo) and 4.0 sacks, before an ankle injury ended his season. He has 70 tackles (58 solo), 10.5 sacks, one pass defensed, one fumble recovery, two forced fumbles and 23 special teams tackles in his career.
He is the cousin of former NFL players Bobby Engram and Vonnie Holliday.
Bscherer was signed on May 28 after participating in Seattle’s rookie camp on a tryout basis.”
