Seahawks announce fan info for first home game

It may just be an exhibition game Saturday night when Seattle hosts Denver at CenturyLink Field. But it is also the first home game of the new season, and as such there are a few new procedures in place for fans who will attend the game.

The Seahawks today sent out the following press release detailing some of the changes.

RENTON, Wash. – The Seahawks encourage fans to plan ahead and arrive early to avoid road closures and possible traffic delays for Saturday’s Seahawks versus Broncos preseason game at CenturyLink Field. Touchdown City, located in the CenturyLink Field Event Center, opens at 4 p.m., gates open at 5 p.m. and kickoff is at 7 p.m. Game day activities and information is outlined below.

1. NFL Bag Policy

Starting on Saturday and throughout the 2013 season, Seahawks fans may carry only the following style and size bag, package, or container into CenturyLink Field, CenturyLink Field Event Center (home of Touchdown City) or when approaching queue lines of fans awaiting entry.

— Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″

— One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar)

— Small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap, may be carried into the stadium along with one of the clear bag options

— Fans with medical equipment are encouraged to enter the stadium through the southeast concourse located on the second floor of the Event Center garage.

2. Road Closures

Fans are invited to visit http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/constructionlookahead.htm for the most up-to-date road construction projects including the following:

— Northbound I-5 off-ramp to the Spokane Street viaduct and Sixth Avenue South/lower Spokane Street will be closed on Friday, August 16 at 11 p.m. through Monday, August 19 at 5 a.m.

— All lanes of northbound SR 99 between South Spokane Street and South Royal Brougham will be closed on Friday, August 16 at 11 p.m. through Saturday, August 17 at 8 a.m.

— Eastbound Spokane Street Bridge ramp to northbound SR 99 will be closed on Friday, August 16 at 11 p.m. through Saturday, August 17 at 8 a.m.

3. Transportation Options

— Metro Transit Park & Ride express bus service will operate from South Kirkland, Eastgate, and Northgate. The cost to ride Metro transit is $4.00 each way.

— For an easy Link Light Rail trip to CenturyLink, SeaTac Airport will be offering 50% off garage parking to all Seahawks ticket holders. For more information visit http://www.portseattle.org/seatac/ground/gameparking.shtml

4. The American Family Insurance Touchdown City opens at 4 p.m. and admission is free.

Touchdown City features two 13’x24′ large high definition/high resolution screens to create a theater style atmosphere so fans can catch other NFL game day action.

  • Face and hair painting
  • Interactive inflatable games and contests
  • Sea Gals autograph booth
  • Seahawks Pro Shop kiosks
  • Appearances by Blitz and Taima
  • 710 ESPN Entertainment Zone featuring live reports and pregame analysis
  • Season long food and beverage specials including $5 beers and $3 hot dogs
