Friday links: Walters hoping for his shot Saturday

The Seahawks will take to the field at the VMAC later today for a final walk-through before Saturday’s exhibition against Denver.

Expect the starters to play at least a quarter, which would be roughly twice as much as last week but will still leave enough time for younger players and free agents to show their wares.

Among th0se hoping to get on the field and impress the coaches is receiver Bryan Walters of Juanita High in Kirkland. Walters was an early camp standout before suffering a hamstring injury. Still, Saturday promises to be meaningful for him as it will be the first time he expects to suit up and run through the tunnel at CenturyLink Field.

I wrote about Walters and his efforts to make the Seahawks in this story for the Friday paper. There is also some video of Walters talking to reporters after Thursday’s practice at the bottom.

Also in our paper today is this column from Jerry Brewer on Red Bryant, and our daily camp glance.

In other news. …

— I’ll be sitting¬† in on KJR-AM with Brewer in the 10 a.m. hour today, largely talking Seahawks;

— The Seahawks are four-point favorites Saturday night, and as this story details, usually a good bet against the spread in exhibition games in recent years;

— Seahawks.com says Tarvaris Jackson has rejoined a more mature Seattle team;

— ESPN.com’s Mike Sando details the NFL TV ratings for week one of exhibition play (and as we noted earlier in the week, they were good here in Seattle);

— Sando also breaks down the Forbes franchise rankings for the NFC West teams;

Pete Prisco of CBSSports.com predicts every NFL game this season and has the Seahawks going 10-6 and losing in the wild card round;

— The DenverBroncos.com blog says the team is preparing for the noise at CenturyLink;

— A Bronco mentioned by¬† NFL.com as a player who needs a big weekend;

— Nice story on former Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck, now backing up in Indianapolis, which hosts the Seahawks this season.

Finally, here’s some video of Walters:
