Seahawks make first round of cuts: Rookie DT Williams placed on IR

The Seahawks announced their first round of roster moves this morning as they start the process of getting to the limit of 75 by tomorrow.

Seattle waived seven players, terminated the contract of another, and in the biggest news of the day put rookie DT Jesse Williams on injured reserve, meaning he won’t play this season.

Williams, a fifth-round pickĀ  from Alabama, has been battling knee issues throughout training camp and did not play Friday at Green Bay.

Cut by the team were: WR Perez Ashford, LB Kyle Knox, TE Jameson Konz, TE Andrei Lintz, LS Kyle Nelson, DT Martin Parker and LB Craig Wilkins.

The team also terminated the contract of WR Brett Swain.

That leaves Seattle with 81 players on its roster, obviously meaning six more must go by tomorrow.
