Here are a few quick thoughts on Seattle’s final 53-man roster:
— By position, I count: WRs 5, OLs 10, QBs 2, RBs 5, TEs 2, DLs 10, LBs 7, CBs 5, Ss 4, Specialists 3.
— Rookies who made the roster are eight.
— While it wasn’t on the list there, Bruce Irvin was put on a suspended list for the first four games.
— Surprises include: Just two tight ends in Miller and Willson, though McGrath could get on the practice squad, and OL Mike Person has done increasing TE-type stuff the last two games.
— WR Chris Harper, a fourth-round pick, is the highest draftee not to make it. He is also a likely practice squad guy. The two drops in the last game didn’t help, and at the moment Seattle has just five WRs on the roster.
— Obviously a lot of nice stories here of guys who made the team, led by free agent DE Benson Mayowa of Idaho who the team signed out of a tryout camp in May. Another undrafted free agent making it is LB John Lotulelei, who the team gave a $25,000 bonus, most of any UDFA.
— And other nice stories making it in FB Derrick Coleman and MLB Allen Bradford.
— Recall that teams can claim players on waivers until 9 a.m. Sunday. After that, teams can begin assembling practice squads of eight players.
— I’m putting together a complete story for the paper now and will like that later.
