The Jacksonville Jaguars have announced they have traded defensive tackle D’Anthony Smith to Seattle for a conditonal draft pick.
Here is the bio of Smith, who has battled injuries throughout his career and has played in just eight games in three years — all last season.
The news comes as Seattle is still waiting to announce the cuts it will make to get to the NFL limit of 53 today.
The trade also indicates that Seattle is still searching for the right players to fill its depth needs in the interior of its defensive line, which has been hit with a slew of injuries throughout training camp.
“We’re kind of thin at that area,” coach Pete Carroll said on Wednesday, noting the injuries to players such as Tony McDaniel, Brandon Mebane and Jordan Hill, among others.
