Seahawks release Person to make room for McDonald

The Seahawks have just officially announced that they have re-signed DT Clinton McDonald (details on that in the post below as well), releasing OT Mike Person to make room.

Person was one of 10 offensive linemen on the initial 53-man roster, one more than Seattle had kept in 2012. Releasing him puts Seattle at nine OLs now, and also at 24 offensive players to 26 on defense.

Person was kept around in part due to his ability to play some TE-type roles. But Seattle added a traditional TE this week in Kellen Davis, cutting Allen Bradford in the process.

Here’s a roster position breakdown after the moves of this week:

WRs — 5

TEs — 3

QBs — 2

RBs — 5

OLs — 9

DTs — 5

DEs — 6

LBs — 6

CBs — 5

Safeties — 4

Specialists — 3
