Post game notes and links

Well, a lot longer night here than anyone anticipated. Also maybe a lot easier win than anyone anticipated as the Seahawks , simply dominated the 49ers 29-3 to make a big, early statement about the NFC West.

Asked what the win meant, Earl Thomas said: “We have a chance to do something great. That’s what it says.”

Indeed, there were lots of stats that proved that tonight.

Two that stand out?

— Seattle held San Francisco’s running backs to 13 yards on 11 carries;

— And Richard Sherman led an effort that held Anquan Boldin to one catch for seven yards after he had 13 for 208 last week against Green Bay.

As for a few quick post-game notes:

— Coach Pete Carroll said Russell Okung suffered a toe injury but that they don’t know exactly what it is yet so there is no word on if or how long he would be out;

— There were no other significant injuries though Carroll said LB Malcolm Smith hurt his hamstring and FB Spencer Ware an ankle.
