Okung out this week, long-term prognosis still unclear

A couple quick notes from Pete Carroll’s press conference today:

— Carroll said LT Russell Okung is out of the area having another opinion on his injured toe. He said Okung is definitely out this week but did not say if he would be out longer;.

Paul McQuistan will start at LT this week in place of Okung with James Carpenter at LG. But Carroll said he would also like to get Alvin Bailey and Michael Bowie prepared at that spot and either or both could see time this week also;

— Carroll said DE Chris Clemons and CB Brandon Browner will return to practice this week, and then each will be monitored to determine their availability for Sunday. He indicated Browner is further behind than Clemons in playing;

— He said Browner will return to the starting lineup when he does get healthy;

— FB Spencer Ware has a sprained ankle and will be evaluated during the week. If he cannot play, Christine Michael’s role will increase, Carroll said;

— DT Jordan Hill and S Jeron Johnson are each getting closer to returning, he said, but he did not say whether either will play this week.

More later.
