Carroll on KIRO: “There’s some potential to get Russell (Okung) back”

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll made his regular Friday morning appearance on KIRO this morning and said that there’s a chance that left tackle Russell Okung could be back soon (you can listen here).

As you can hear, Carroll does not give a definitive answer on the status of Okung, who has already been declared out for Sunday’s game against Jacksonville with an injury to his left big toe and this week was out of the area getting a second opinion on the injury.

But Carroll says “there’s some potetnial there to get Russell back. We’ll see what that means when we know more about it. He won’t make it back immediately. We have a chance to get some good news. We have to get through this day before we can really tell you what’s up.”

Translation on the last part — it seems unlikely we’ll get any definitive word on Okung when CarrollĀ  meets with the general media after practice today.

But it also sounds as if the second opinion may not have revealed anything that will keep Okung out long-term.
