The Seahawks announced today they have released center Jason Spitz and signed wide receiver Bryan Walters from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.
That makes Walters eligible to play in Sunday’s game against the Titans and gives the Seahawks five receivers for that game. They played with four last week after the release of Stephen Williams.
Walters, from Kirkland’s Juanita High School, originally entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent with the San Diego Chargers in 2010, where he spent the final five games on the Chargers practice squad.
He saw action in four games in 2011, recording three receptions for 27 yards and eight punt returns for 45 yards. Walters then signed with the Minnesota Vikings as a free agent on April 2, 2012 but was released during training camp and signed to Seattle’s practice squad on December 20.
Spitz signed with Seattle on September 25 and dressed, but did not play, in two games this season.
Spitz was signed as insurance with Max Unger out. But Unger will be back this week so the team does not need a third center.
