Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson and cornerback Richard Sherman each met the media today on what will be the one day this week when Seahawks players are available to the press.
Below are a few notes and quotes, as well as some video:
— Wilson will be returning the scene of his first regular-season NFL game, a 20-16 Arizona win last Sept. 9. Wilson said he remember it being “a battle” but that now he thinks about “how much further we are as an offensive and how much further I’ve come.”
— It is the first time he will make a return appearance to a stadium during his NFL career and he said going back down there he will be “a lot more comfortable” now.
— Wilson again said he really felt in tune with the offense last week and that he “only had one play I wish I could have done a little bit differently.”
— One area where he said the team needs to improve is in the red zone, and he said one thing he may need to do is “make quicker reads” to get the ball to the right spot.
— Asked if he ever worries about the balance of his own running in the offense he said “I really don’t think about it. It’s one of those things that just happens.”
— Asked about the short turnaround, he said he will have to spend a little more time in the film room studying since there aren’t as many days to study, while also making sure he gets the right amount of rest.
— Sherman, asked about the quick turnaround, said he doesn’t mind playing on Thursday and that most guys “would rather play than practice” anyway.
— Asked about the matchup with Larry Fitzgerald, he repeated what he has said in the past that he doesn’t spend as much time talking to Fitzgerald as he does other receivers. He said that’s because he has to concentrate so much on the task at hand that there isn’t time.
— Asked about Carson Palmer having thrown 11 interceptions so far, he said maybe that just means Palmer is due for a big game “so we’ll give him all the respect in the world.”
— Asked about Arizona cornerback Patrick Peterson, he said Peterson “is a better athlete than I am” noting that Peterson is faster.
— Asked if it was important for the defense to get back on track last week, he said “it was important for us because we know our standard” and they wanted to get back to that.
Here is some video of Wilson talking about the short week, the Arizona defense and what he has seen out of Cardinals’ rookie cornerback Tyran Mathieu, ala the Honey Badger:
