49ers waive former Seahawk WR Chris Harper

The 49ers today waived rookie receiver Chris Harper, who was Seattle’s fourth-r0und choice in the 2013 NFL Draft.

The Seahawks released Harper in the cutdown to 53 players but had hoped to re-sign him to their practice squad.

Instead, the 49ers then signed Harper to their active 53-man roster.

He had not played in any games for the 49ers.

No doubt the Seahawks may be interested in bringing Harper back, though their WR corps is suddenly getting a little crowded with Percy Harvin reportedly due to return to practice next week.

Seattle will have to make a roster move to re-instate Harvin to the 53-man roster.

Seattle has five active WRs right now as is — Golden Tate, Sidney Rice, Jermaine Kearse, Doug Baldwin and Bryan Walters — and two more on the practice squad in Arceto Clark and Jozh Lenz.
