One byproduct of a team’s success is its assistants being talked up as future head coaches.
So it is with Seattle offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, whose future was speculated about during the NFL Network telecast of Thursday’s game, as well as in the Tweet below from Ian Rapoport:
Execs talking about Seahawks OC Darrell Bevell as a prime HC candidate in 2014. Source says he earned 2-year big $$ extension in offseason

That Bevell got a new deal has been reported before and subsequently confirmed as a two-year contract.
Contracts, though, don’t matter much when it comes to head coaching jobs — if Bevell finds one he likes, and that team wants to hire him, a contract won’t get in the way.
Seattle went down this road last year, as well, losing defensive coordinator Gus Bradley to a head coaching job with the Jaguars.
Bevell, who is 43, will likely be similarly courted again after this season, though for now that’s a worry for a later time.
