Carroll press conference notes: Harvin “feels 100 percent” but still unsure if he plays Sunday

Here are a few quick hitters from Pete Carroll’s weekly Wednesday press conference today. Below is some video of Carroll in which he hits on many of the key personnel issues surrounding the team this week:

Percy Harvin is indeed practicing today (though off-limits to the media until he completes one). Carroll said Harvin said he feels 100 percent. But Carroll repeated what he said on Monday, that they will want to see how he responds to a week of practice before making a decision. He said they won’t put Harvin out there until they feel he is 100 percent.

— Carroll said OLs Russell Okung, Max Unger and Breno Giacomini will also all return today with the hope they will play Sunday. But again, how they respond to practice will be the key, especially with Seattle having a bye following this week and having developed some depth.

— Carroll said there is no additional word on Brandon Browner other than that it remains “pretty serious.” He said they will know more later in the week.

Red Bryant will also return to practice today, as will Jordan Hill.

— However, DT Tony McDaniel, who suffered a hamstring injury against Atlanta, will not practice today.

— Carroll said rookie CB Tharold Simon, who has been on the PUP list all year with a foot injury, will return to practice next week. Like Harvin, he can practice with the team for three weeks so they can get a look at where he is before having to put him on the active roster.

— Carroll also said that rookie DT Jesse Williams is back in his native Australia rehabbing and that “there’s a long loop” there to be completed before it’s known when he can return — he is out for this season while on IR.

— He said S Jeron Johnson (out with a hamstring) and FB Derrick Coleman (out since the Arizona game with a hamstring) will also each get some practice in this week. He said Johnson is closer to returning than is Coleman

— He said there is a chance that DE Greg Scruggs could make it back this year but that LB Korey Toomer is further away.

— Carroll also said they got word from the NFL that it agreed with the penalty on Michael Bennett as they determined he lunged at Matt Ryan’s legs, which is against the rules and part of an emphasis on trying to protect the unprotected legs of the quarterback. Bennett said on KJR-AM he had been fined, though Carroll said he hadn’t heard that.

— Also, it appears as if Michael Brooks has re-signed with the Seahawks as he was back in the locker room today.

Here’s some video of Carroll:
