Avril says Sunday sideline discussion “nothing serious”

One of the few unanswered questions from Seattle’s 33-10 rout of Atlanta Sunday was “just what the heck was Cliff Avril so mad about, anyway?”

TV cameras focused on Avril having a rather, well, animated discussion with teammates, notably Michael Bennett, during the second half.

Thursday, Avril said all’s good and it’s just what happens sometimes in football.

“I’m passionate about the game of football,” he said. “You know, I’m usually the quiet one. But I love what I do and sometimes it comes out of you. But it’s nothing serious.”

Avril said he and Bennett went out to dinner this week.

“He’s one of the guys that I’m closest to on the team and friends sometimes argue,” he said with a smile. “It just happened to be on game day.”

It also simply happened to be caught by TV cameras.

“Exactly,” Avril said. “It’s nothing serious.”
