Friday is the day when the NFL fines for games the previous weekend are officially revealed.
Two this week occurred in Sunday’s Seattle-Atlanta game.
Seattle’s Michael Bennett was fined $15,570 for his hit at the legs of Atlanta QB Matt Ryan, a play on which he also received a personal foul.
Seattle coach Pete Carroll said this week that after reviewing the play he understood the penalty and potential fine given the NFL’s emphasis on protecting the legs of quarterback.
“Under the circumstances of what the rules say and what position that he was in, I can kind of see how they called it,” Carroll said.
Atlanta safety William Moore, meanwhile, was fined $22,050 for a hit on Golden Tate that was flagged for being a hit on a defenseless receiver.
