NFC playoff scenarios

As noted here and everywhere else, Seattle clinched a playoff spot with its win last night, becoming the first team in the NFL to secure a berth.

This week, Seattle can clinch the West Division with a win or a tie, one of NFC three teams that can clinch or improve its playoff standing this week.

Here are the scenarios, straight from the NFL:

NFC

CLINCHED: Seattle – playoff spot

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

Seattle clinches NFC West division and a first-round bye with:

1)    SEA win or tie

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

New Orleans clinches a playoff spot with:

1)    NO win + PHI loss or tie + DAL loss or tie + ARI loss OR

2)    NO win + PHI loss or tie + DAL loss or tie + SF loss + ARI tie

Note: If both DAL and PHI games end in a tie, Saints do not clinch.

CAROLINA PANTHERS

Carolina clinches a playoff spot with:

1)    CAR win + ARI loss + SF loss + PHI loss or tie + DAL loss or tie

Note: If both DAL and PHI games end in a tie, Panthers do not clinch.
